Soundtrack sent to aliens from Earth for 44 years
You may have heard the name Voyager a lot before. The Voyager mission is one of the most important manned missions. The main reason for this is that Voyager spacecraft have the longest distance an object has traveled from Earth.
Voyager operation
The Voyager mission was carried out by The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Operation Voyager had two aircraft. The first aircraft was named Voyager 1 and the second was named Voyager 2. These aircraft were launched on September 5, 1977. That was 44 years ago. That is, with an interval of one week between the two aircraft. The special thing is that even though these spacecraft travel a long distance from the Earth, they still maintain radio contact with the Earth today. Voyager 2 was the first to launch, followed by Voyager 1.
The trajectory of Voyager aircraft
The purple trajectory in the image below shows the trajectory of the Voyager 1 aircraft. Voyager 1 passed Jupiter and Saturn and pulled away from the solar system. There, the spacecraft also observed Saturn's moon Titan.
The blue trajectory in the image below shows the trajectory of the Voyager 2 spacecraft. The Voyager 2 spacecraft pulled out of the Solar System, observing Jupiter and Saturn, as well as Uranus and Neptune. For the first time, Voyager 2 will be able to take clear close - ups of the planets Uranus and Neptune.
You can now get live details of these aircraft and live location data from the NASA official website via the link below.
Golden Record
The Voyager 1 spacecraft is currently located in the interstellar medium away from the Solar System. For that reason, and for advanced planets on other planetary systems, the Voyager 1 spacecraft is housed in a gold-plated disk with audio and visual aids to learn more about Earth and life on Earth. You can see the disc in the image below.
Data included here
Part of a 1977 speech by the President of the United States
Scientific data on the Earth
Two nude models of humans living on Earth (front of disk)
The different sounds of the earth
Etiquette of different nations in different languages (including Sinhala)
Further details and the audio of this disc can be heard on the NASA official web page via the link below.
